In the summer of 2009, I met the founder and creator of Nold Skateboards Marc Casagrande for the first time on a surfer beach somewhere on the west coast of Portugal. This developed into the kind of male friendship where you explore the snow-covered pow together on a snowboard, surf the bright blue waves of the sea and skate until you run out of air.
When ‘Casi’ founded his own skateboard company last year, we wanted to transfer precisely this vibe and its origins in the golden 80s to the web. The graphic designer Pia Fleischmann then developed a wonderful concept and design that brings back the bright colours, playfulness and dirt of that time!
One gimmick of the website that I particularly like: anyone who has ever stood on a board knows that at the beginning you have to ask yourself whether you are standing regular or goofy on the board, and we made use of this fact on the website – if you are riding regular, the whole website is orientated to the left, if you are standing goofy you navigate through the page on the right!
