The Kraftreaktor is the meeting place for the climbing scene in Aargau. The impressive 18 metre high hall offers around 70 routes and the 20 metre overhanging roof gets even experienced climbers’ adrenaline pumping! A large bouldering hall, climbing courses and a café round off the facilities. Since opening around 22 years ago, a loyal clientele has been built up and beginners are taught the joy and safety of rope climbing by passionate climbers every day.
In collaboration with the Aarau graphic design studio Büro a+o, I was commissioned to realise the new website in conjunction with the new branding. Based on Adobe XD prototypes, I developed a flexible content structure based on WordPress. Accordingly, Kraftreaktor can independently generate content based on their branding guidelines. Data from the current routes is transferred from the route tool via an interface and can be displayed on the website in real time.
With scroll and micro animations, blur effects and the integration of the animated logo via Lottie technology, a modern implementation with app character was also created in the front end. The content and navigation are displayed with plenty of white space to draw the eye to the essentials and the geometric Stolzl font from The Northern Block supports the minimalist and modern aesthetic of the website.
