Iyengar yoga is physically and mentally challenging and is characterised by precision and concentration in the alignment and execution of the postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama). Iyengar Yoga teachers undergo several years of intensive training which, in addition to deepening their own practice and learning how to teach, also covers the areas of anatomy and yoga philosophy.
In collaboration with graphic designer Claudia Eggimann, I developed the new website for the Iyengar Yoga Switzerland association, which was founded in 1999 by a handful of practitioners and teachers and has grown steadily ever since. The association now has more than 200 members, of whom just over 100 are certified Iyengar Yoga teachers.
The WordPress-based website was developed according to the customer’s new requirements and, in addition to multilingual implementation, also offers the functionality to independently enter content and agenda entries. The pool of teachers is automatically imported from their CRM via an interface and supplemented on the website with filter and search functions. A protected member area also offers the association the opportunity to make further information, downloads and events exclusively available to its members online. Based on the new branding guidelines, the customer can choose between five colour profiles and flexibly use elements such as galleries, quotes, text boxes and videos as required. The website deliberately keeps a lot of white space in the background and surprises again and again with micro-animations that only become visible when certain elements are rolled over.
